The Alloy Sn100C range of Lead-Free solders was produced by collaboration between Balver Zinn, DKL and FCT Assembly and Nihon Superior. The innovative stabilized tin/cooper solder Sn100C, has an acceptable operating temperature of 250-260°C in wave soldering, which eliminates the threat of thermal damage to PCBs and components.Sn100C solder is a first-class performer and has the added important environmental benefits associated with lead free.
Sn100C is ideal for state-of-the-art processes including wave soldering, hot air leveling, hot-dip tin plating or galvanic applications. The unique stabilization process involving nickel has an extremely positive effect on solder’s solidification behavior. The formation of needle-like crystals is delayed and more spherical structures are encouraged. This considerably improves the flow of solder in the PCB´s exit area from the wave and counteracts the formation of solder bridges. The result is a uniform structure with a shinier surface. In addition
Sn100C gives excellent thermal and electrical conductivity coupled with a slower rate of copper pick-up into the solder bath when compared SAC alloys.
The use of Sn100C results in no additional complexity to either the soldered joint or to ease of recycling. Sn100C also offers a considerable advantage in terms of cost when compared to rival containing alloys.
Advantages of SN100C:
- SN100C is a really environment-friendly alloy without any suspect metals, like silver.
- SN100C is the most used alloy worldwide for lead-free hot air levelling of printed circuit boards.
- SN100C is the best replacement for tin-lead solders in wave soldering and selective soldering.
- SN100C is an approved solution worldwide for the replacement of tin-silver-copper alloys.
- SN100C always solidifies to bright and shiny solder joints without microcracks (like tin-lead).
- SN100C is, according to the NASA study, the best candidate for wave soldering.
- SN100C has an intrinsic lower copper dissolution than other lead-free alloys.
- SN100C is the most cost-effective lead-free alloy (at this time the price of silver is constantly increasing and also small amounts of silver in the alloy cause significantly higher prices).
- More than 1,500 wave soldering machines are running successfully worldwide with Balver Zinn SN100C.
